around here, it feels like summer. the air is thick, the sun hangs golden in the evening sky. the long shadows, the magical light…i wish i could hang on to it forever.
around here, i lost (as in not ever to be found again) my first lens cap. i think that officially means that i am now a real photographer.
around here, i am getting bombarded with spam email. somehow my website email must have made its way onto some list and now i probably get 100 spam emails a day. which TOTALLY SUCKS. i’ve got some dude named mike ward who’s warning me about world war 3 and another group called end days survival blowing the whistle on the government. but on the brightside, i’ve got lots of information on how to be a coffee shop millionaire and how to restore hair loss. <===== {insert sarcasm here}
around here, when i’m not cleaning out my inbox, i am enjoying time with friends and family. an impromptu dinner with my parents on wednesday. and a lovely evening with my friend jen last night…tasting wine and checking out all the pretty flowers at a local garden center. wine and gardening….a match made in heaven.
around here, i’m recovering from a bit of an empty-nest flare up this week. it’s the first summer that my girl won’t be coming home for any length of time. and seeing all my instagram friends sharing pictures of summer vacation with their kiddos makes me a bit wistful for those days when kelsey was little. her sun-kissed nose and tiny freckles. watching her play in the front yard with all the neighborhood kids til dark. the way she smelled like grass and sunscreen. the feeling of freedom and the brief reprieve from spelling words and flash cards.
around here, i am looking forward to seeing my girl tonight. soon she’ll be moving into a new place with a new roommate. and whatever brief melancholy i might have felt, is only a shadow compared to the immense joy and gratitude for the way things are working out for kelsey. she’s loving her new job and so excited about this next chapter of her life.
around here, i am putting into practice my belief that summer magic is what you make it to be.
